We’ve identified a defect in the Shopify's Updated Tag in Order trigger. This bug causes the trigger to run on every order update, regardless of whether the tags associated with the other have actually changed. After thorough review, we’ve determined that a fix to enable the trigger to function as originally intended is not feasible.
What that means for you
Due to this limitation, as of July 3, 2025, we are implementing the following changes:
- New Zaps: You can no longer add the Updated Tag in Order trigger to Zaps.
- Existing Zaps: This trigger will continue to function in your existing Zaps. However, be aware that it will continue to trigger on all order updates, even when tags have not been modified.
Recommendations
Zapier strongly recommends transitioning to the Updated Order trigger for your Zaps. This trigger allows for more robust and accurate automation. You can then implement conditional or branching logic within your Zaps to specifically check for tag changes, ensuring your workflows only execute when relevant updates are offered.
We’re sorry if this causes any trouble for you. We’re always working to make our tools better for you. If you have any questions or need help, reach out to Zapier Support.
