How to get started with Twilio on Zapier

Twilio and Zapier connect to automate SMS and calls. You can trigger actions when receiving messages or calls and send SMS or make phone calls.

Prerequisites

To use the Twilio app on Zapier, you must have:

• A Twilio account (free trial or paid account).
• At least one verified phone number in your Twilio account (required for trial accounts to send/receive messages and calls).
• For SMS messaging: Toll Free verification completed if using US numbers (required for trial accounts).
• A Twilio phone number (automatically assigned to trial accounts, or purchased for paid accounts).

Connect Twilio to Zapier

Find your Twilio credentials

To find your Twilio Account SID and Auth Token:

1. Log into your Twilio account.
2. Go to your User account settings.
3. In the Account Info section, you can find your Account SID and Auth Token.

Instructions for locating your Account SID and Auth Token may vary depending if you have a Twilio Account or a Subaccount

Connect to Twilio on Zapier

To create an app connection to Twilio on Zapier:

1. Go to the Apps page.
2. Click + Add connection.
3. A new dialog box will appear. Search for and select Twilio.
4. Click Add connection.
5. A Connect an Account page will open in a browser tab or window.
6. Complete the following fields:
• Account SID: Enter your Twilio Account SID.
• Auth Token: Enter your Twilio Auth Token.
7. Click Yes, Continue to Twilio.

Your Twilio account is now successfully connected to Zapier.

• New Phone Number (Polling) - Triggers when you add a new phone number.
• New Recording (Polling) - Triggers when a new recording is available on your account.
• New Transcription (Polling) - Triggers when a new transcription is available on your account.
• New Call (Instant) - Triggers when a call is finished on your Twilio number.
• New SMS (Polling) - Triggers when an SMS is sent to your Twilio number.
• New WhatsApp Message (Polling) - Triggers when a WhatsApp message is sent to your Twilio number.

• No search actions found for Twilio.

Actions

• Call Phone - Call a number or numbers and say a message.
• Send SMS - Send a SMS to a number or numbers.
• Send WhatsApp Message - Send a WhatsApp message to one or more recipients.
• API Request (Beta) - This is an advanced action which makes a raw HTTP request that includes this integration's authentication.

Limitations

• Messages should not contain any reference to alcohol, illegal drugs, cannabis/cbd, firearms, gambling, prescription medication, tobacco or adult content. Learn more about Twilio's Messaging policy. 
• API rate limits apply. Twilio has rate limits and concurrent request limits that may result in 429 Too Many Requests responses during high usage periods.
