At Smith Chason College, distribution groups help streamline communication by allowing users to email existing groups of people based on department, role, or campus. This article covers two types of distribution groups you may encounter:
Department-Based Distribution Groups (General Use)
These are the most commonly used distribution groups and are available for everyday communication within specific teams or departments.
Examples:
Who can use them?
All staff and faculty have access to email these distribution groups. Simply enter the group address in the To, Cc, or Bcc field of your email as needed.
Campus-Wide Distribution Groups
Campus-wide groups are used for broader communication that impact entire campuses or the organization as a whole.
Examples:
- scc.all@smithchason.edu
- la.all@smithchason.edu
- ot.all@smithchason.edu
- ph.all@smithchason.edu
- sm.all@smithchason.edu
Access Required
Due to the wide reach of these distribution groups, access is restricted to approved users only. If you’ve been granted access, you may enter the group address in the To, Cc, or Bcc field of your email as needed.
If you need to use one of these restricted distribution groups, please contact support@smithchason.edu. Be sure to include the exact contents of your message so it can be reviewed and, if approved, sent on your behalf or access granted temporarily.
